Beaches in S. Korea take extra measures to prevent COVID-19

코로나19 해수욕장 '뉴노멀'…발열체크•손목밴드에 QR코드까지<br /><br />With the COVID-19 pandemic, it's going to be a different summer for sure... especially on the beach.<br />Local governments have prepared strict measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, while still allowing beachgoers to enjoy the summer sand and exquisite blue sea.<br />Our Kim Dami explains.<br />Local beaches are preparing for a long hot summer, with strict virus prevention guidelines.<br />Visitors to beaches in Gangneung must get their temperature checked and are given wristbands to prove they don't have a fever.<br />They also have to show a QR code on their phone in order to use beach facilities such as showers and restrooms.<br />Gangneung city will disinfect all its beach facilities three times a day.<br />In addition, an online traffic light will track how crowded beaches are.<br />A green light indicates the beach has the advised number of people.<br />That's a maximum of one person for every three-point-two square meters of beach.<br />Yellow is between 100 to 200 percent of the recommended number, and red... over 200 percent.<br />The traffic signal is updated every 30 minutes.<br />Ten major beaches across the country will use the system from July 1st, and 50 other beaches will adopt the system by mid-July.<br />Those who plan on visiting beaches in Jeollanam-do Province must reserve their spots online.<br />Sokcho Beach in Gangwon-do Province will install automatic disinfection systems that sense and spray disinfectant on visitors.<br />Beaches will be closed at night, and there will be no summer beach festivals.<br />Kim Dami, Arirang News.<br />
