This is the shocking moment runner was headbutted by a cow during a cattle race in Indonesia on June 28.<br /><br />The man, who is part of the opponent team, was seen running ahead of a cow before it caught up to him and rode him down.<br /><br />A rider desperately tried to steer the beast away from the runner but it knocked him down then trampled over him.<br /><br />The competition committee acted swiftly and evacuated victims to the hospital in on Madura Island, East Java Province.The victim survived the ordeal but he suffered a broken back and arm.<br /><br />Witness Mas Bimbo said: "The victim was a member of one of the teams. It looked painful but his injuries were not too serious. Running with the cows is just part of the atmosphere.''<br /><br />Locally called "Karapan Sapi," cow racing is a unique tradition of the people on the island. <br /><br />The tradition sees residents ride the animals annually to show gratitude to the Gods for the fertility of their land.
