'양심적 병역거부자' 35명 첫 대체복무... 10월 교정시설 합숙<br /><br />For the first time, South Korean men that refuse mandatory military service due to personal or religious beliefs will be drafted for alternative military service from October.<br />The Military Manpower Administration said the first group of 35 that have been reviewed and approved by a committee will start their out a 36-month duty.<br />They'll attend training camps at local correctional facilities instead of military bases... tasked with serving food, supplies and facility maintenance.<br />The move follows a 2018 Supreme Court ruling that acquitted those that rejected military service due to their beliefs... prompting the government to come up with alternative ways for those to serve.<br />
