Pre-Diabetic? Research Reveals How The Condition Is Putting Your Heart At Risk

Physicians typically diagnose pre-diabetes when a person's blood sugar level is higher than normal, but not high enough to be considered diabetes.<br />And according to UPI, new research from China suggests properly managing the condition could help prevent heart disease in adults who are otherwise healthy.<br />What's more, screening for and managing pre-diabetes can reduce the risk of heart disease progression for those who already have it.<br />According to UPI, the study found pre-diabetes raises heart disease risk for people with a history of heart trouble by 37%.<br />It also increased the risk of death for someone with previous heart issues by 36% over a three-year period.<br />Pre-diabetes is associated with an increased risk of all-cause mortality and heart disease. Some 70% of them will eventually develop type 2 diabetes.
