Desperate residents tried to salvage a truck that was washed away during a storm in the Philippines.<br /><br />The vehicle was on the banks of the river which started to swell during heavy rain in Cagayan de Oro province on July 12.<br /><br />Onlooker Vincent Elpede said he heard loud shouts outside the house and saw several neighbours swimming towards the drifting truck.<br /><br />He said: "At first, I thought somebody was drowning so I quickly went out to check. But they told me they were after that it was a truck that was washed away by the river."<br /><br />Vincent and his neighbours tried to use a digger to reach the vehicle but they eventually gave up and left the truck to the mercy of nature.
