A company in the Indian city of Coimbatore have chosen to manufacture products from Areca tree leaves in a bid to tackle the single-use plastic epidemic.<br /><br />Filmed on January 7, the footage shows the manufacturing process where the leaves are fashioned into recyclable utensils.<br /><br />Areca trees are usually planted in the hilly areas for the nuts that the trees produce. <br /><br />They belong to the palm family and are grown without the use of fertilisers.<br /><br />Tamilnadu - the southernmost state of India has drastically seen a boom in eco-friendly businesses due to the state-wide ban on single-use plastics.
