Infant mortality has reached a record low in America according to new data.<br />In 2018, a decline of 4% was reported in infant deaths across the country.<br />According to UPI, 2018 saw 21,498 deaths compared to 22,341 deaths reported in 2017.<br />The analysis shows that the mortality rate declined to 5.67 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2018.<br />That is down 2% from the 2017 rate of 5.79 deaths per 1,000 live births according to the CDC.<br />Mortality rates are highest for infants born to mothers under the age of 20, at 8.65 deaths per 1,000 births.
