Hollywood movies delayed as U.S. hits four million COVID-19 cases

美 코로나 확진자 400만명 육박...할리우드 영화 개봉 줄지어 지연<br /><br />As the U.S. hit a sobering 4 million cases of Covid-19 and rising, the pandemic has now disrupted Hollywood's release schedule for the next decade.<br />All scheduled "Star Wars" and "Avatar" films between 2021 and 2027 are being pushed back one year and Disney has pulled "Mulan" off the calendar.<br />Choi Won-jong has more.<br />If you are a fan of Disney movies then you may have to wait a while before being able to go and watch them in cinemas.<br />Due to the global pandemic, the Walt Disney company has decided to push back the release of some of its new movies such as 'Star Wars', 'Avatar' and 'Mulan'.<br />The 'Avatar' sequel was set to be released this year, but has been postponed to December 2022.<br />Director James Cameron said on Twitter, that due to COVID-19 the team was forced into an unexpected lengthy delay in commencing live-action filming.<br />He also added that it is no longer up to the production team to be able to determine the movie's exact date of release.<br />There are also doubts over Disney's live-action remake of 'Mulan'.<br />The movie was scheduled to reach theaters in March before being delayed until August. But now, 'Mulan' is listed as "unset", meaning it's release has been delayed indefinitely.<br />One of Disney's biggest blockbusters, the latest 'Star Wars' sequels, have also been delayed by a year.<br />Elsewhere in Hollywood, Paramount Pictures announced its decision to push back two of its biggest upcoming movies: "A Quiet Place Part II" and "Top Gun: Maverick" to 2021.<br />This announcements came after the likes of Warner Bros and Disney made major changes to their release calendars.<br />Meanwhile, many movie theaters in the U.S. are still struggling to reopen due to social distancing measures. Cinema chains like 'AMC' and 'Cineworld' have delayed their reopening dates to mid-August at the earliest.<br />Choi Won-jong, Arirang News.<br />
