"1889년 日 문부성 검정교과서에 '독도는 조선 영토' 기술"<br /><br />A researcher has found that Japan did NOT recognize South Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo as its territory in the late 19th century.<br />Professor Han Cheol-ho of Dongguk University revealed in his latest research paper that geography textbooks reviewed and adopted by Japan's board of education in 1889 show the country viewed Dokdo as Korean territory.<br />Han researched numerous geography textbooks and atlases approved by Japan.<br />His research has been published in the journal of the Northeast Asian History Foundation.<br />
