Study Links Serious Gum Disease to Dementia Decades Later

New research suggests that our mouth and teeth health is intimately connected to our brain health.<br />Severe gum disease or missing teeth in your early 60’s could lead to dementia, says Gizmodo.<br />The increased risk was high for those with mouth troubles in comparison to people with no gum disease.<br />Among those who had severe gum disease at the start of the study, 22% went on to have dementia.<br />23% of those with no teeth in their 60's also eventually developed dementia.<br />Meanwhile, 14% percent of people without gum disease developed dementia.
