Tiny Island In Cape Cod Open To The Public For First Time In 300 Years

A tiny island just off the coast of Cape Cod that has been off limits to the public for more than 300 years.<br />Now, the 24 acre 'Sipson Island' has been opened to the public.<br />The newly minted Sipson Island Trust, with the help of a local non-profit, hopes to restore and care for the island.<br />The goal of the group is to restore the island's ecology, while supporting environmental and historical education.<br />Day trip visitors can enjoy hiking, beaches, snorkeling, and 360-degree views of the bay area.<br />According to CNN, the original owners, the Monomoyick people sold the island to White settlers in 1711.
