New 'smart' bus stops rolled out across Bangkok

Footage shows a new 'smart' bus stop that opened in Bangkok, Thailand, today July 30, featuring WiFi, mobile charging, and security cameras.<br /><br />The 350 new stops will be installed over the next 12 months. Officials claim they will also help protect commuters from city pollution.<br /><br />The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) unveiled the pilot bus stop at the Fortune Town shopping mall. It had a screen showing bus times and routes.<br /><br />BMA spokesman Pongsakorn Kwanmuang said 100 full-function bus stops will be installed across the city. They will feature a 55-inch screen for BMA news, bus times, routes and transport connections, CCTV cameras, electric lights, mobile phone chargers and WiFi.<br /><br />A further 250 'lite' bus stops will have the same equipment but without the 55-inch display and WiFi.
