America's top infectious disease doctor says the 'diversity of response' among US states has kept the nation from controlling the coronavirus pandemic.<br />According to CNN, Dr. Anthony Fauci said in a congressional hearing Friday it's impossible to predict how long the COVID-19 pandemic will last.<br />The US is seeing a resurgence of coronavirus infections after states began reopening their economies.<br />Data from Johns Hopkins University counts the number of cases now at more than 4.4 million and the death toll at 152,070.<br />The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation increased its forecast to 219,864 total deaths by November.<br />The increase is due, in part, to the nation's ongoing debates over whether to observe measures like wearing masks and social distancing.
