S. Korean PM pleads with doctors not to strike over new training plan

정세균 총리 "의사협회, 집단행동 자제하고 대화로 문제 해결해야"<br /><br />South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun is urging the country's doctors not to go on strike... over their opposition to the government's plan to build a public medical school.<br />In a briefing Sunday, he said a strike will hurt ordinary people, and pleaded with doctors to solve the problem through dialogue.<br />He also told the health ministry to communicate effectively with medical professionals.<br />The government is planning to build a medical school to train more doctors... who'll get scholarships if they work in underserved areas for ten years.<br />Specialist doctors in the Korea Medical Association are planning to close their offices this coming Friday... to be joined by other doctors the following Friday.<br />
