Heavy rainfall lashed the Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu, southern India.<br /><br /> In Nilgiris' Kudaloor, intense rain has led to the inundation of a tribal area, and firefighters launched an operation to rescue the tribe trapped in floodwater and move them to a safer location.<br /><br />Footage from Thursday (August 6) shows people being rescued safely, swimming over heavy flowing currents, secured by ropes.<br /><br />Local media reports that Kudaloor had 35 centimetres of rain yesterday and 250 tribal families have been evacuated after power supply was completely shut down over the past few days.
