People with arthritis often say they can predict the weather with their arthritic joints.<br />Now, new research shows bad weather also impacts the upper respiratory system.<br />According to CNN, emergency room visits for seniors with breathing problems such as asthma and COPD rise significantly the day before thunderstorms.<br />While the study looked at patients 65 and older, the researchers say the danger is just as real for younger people with severe respiratory illnesses.<br />'Thunderstorm asthma' was first recorded in the 1980s. Waves of asthma attacks were connected to thunderstorms during high pollen counts.
