바이든 러닝메이트로 카말라 해리스 부통령 후보 지명<br /><br />U.S. Presidential candidate Joe Biden has picked his running mate for the 2020 election Senator Kamala Harris making her the first black and South Asian American woman on a major U.S. party's presidential ticket.<br />In a statement released within the past hour, the Democratic presumptive nominee said he needed "someone working alongside him who is smart, tough and ready to lead."<br />Choosing Harris also provides some generational diversity to Biden,... who if elected would be the oldest president-elect in U.S. history.<br />Born to Jamaican and Indian immigrants, 55-year-old Harris is the only Black woman in the Senate.<br />She was elected as the junior Senator from California in 2016 after serving as the state's Attorney General.<br /><br />
