A new analysis reveals older adults with diabetes are nearly three times as likely to develop pancreatic cancer than the general population.<br />And according to UPI, the link between diabetes and pancreatic cancer increases to seven-fold for people with the relatively rare Type 3C diabetes.<br />According to UPI, Type 3C diabetes is caused by pancreatitis, or inflammation of the pancreas.<br />The findings highlight the link between the two chronic diseases. The CDC estimates that roughly 35 million Americans have some form of diabetes.<br />Researchers say the findings also suggest the development of diabetes could be an early precursor to a cancer diagnosis.
