국내 코로나 신규확진 103명... 경기도 2주간 모든 종교시설 '집합제한'<br /><br />South Korea has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases since March.<br />Health authorities are on high alert as many of the cases are in the densely populated capital area and comes just ahead of a three-day weekend.<br />Moon Conn-young has our top story.<br />South Korea saw 103 new COVID-19 cases on Friday.<br />Aside from the high number of cases from a chartered flight from Iraq three weeks ago, this marks the highest number of cases in a single day since late March.<br />Many of the cases came from cluster infections in churches, marketplaces, and schools.<br />It's got the country's health authorities to consider raising the social distancing level to Level 2.<br />"We have discussed the possible option of raising social distancing during an emergency meeting held by the Prime Minister. However, the requirement for Level 2 has not been fully met yet."<br />Of the new infections, 85 were local, with 72 coming from the Seoul metropolitan area.<br />To stop the further spread of COVID-19, Gyeonggi-do Province Governor Lee Jae-myung has ordered a ban on religious gatherings for two weeks.<br />Outside of Gyeonggi-do, the city of Seoul also announced a ban on religious gatherings for two weeks, starting this Saturday... affecting 75-hundred-and-60 religious facilities.<br />The Central Disease Control Headquarters chief, Jung Eun-kyeong, warns the situation in the capital area is serious and could lead to a massive outbreak.<br />"The epidemic is spreading so rapidly that the number of confirmed cases has doubled in just one day in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province. Thirteen percent of the new cases have no clear origin.<br />Health authorities add that the risk is even greater because people have become lax in observing quarantine rules.<br />With no additional deaths reported on Friday, the death toll stands at three-hundred-and-five.<br />Moon Conn-young, Arirang News.<br />
