Public health experts and others criticized the government loudly about the switch.<br />The CDC has long overseen the tracking of relevant infectious disease threats in the country through its National Health Safety Network.<br />In the month since the move, there have been repeated delays and inconsistencies in the data compiled by the Department of Health and Human Services.<br />It's prevented the reliable tracking of the pandemic and could lead to gaps in allocating important resources to hospitals, such as drugs and PPE.
