With 200 years worth of history and a decade worth of deterioration, witness one man's incredible renovation of a derelict Irish cottage.

Hoping to have the renovation done by late October on a budget of €25,000 euros, transforming his old family home is no easy feat for Jack Shelly.

The cottage, in Mullinahone, Ireland, was left to Jack's dad in 2010 and is around 200-years-old.

Jack posts updates of his impressive renovation to TikTok (@jackshelly8), where he has gained 1.4 million likes, 348,000 followers, and an outpour of support.

He told Newsflare: "This was my grandfather's house that he bought in 1950. He left it to my father after he passed away. Since then it’s being vacant and slowly deteriorating.

"At the beginning of this year, I decided to bring it back to life. My father and I began clearing it out and getting rid of anything that wasn’t needed. When the clearing out was finished it was time to start with the actual renovation.

"It was around this time that I started documenting the journey on TikTok and Instagram. This video went viral and I got 45,000 followers in 24 hours. I have been documenting the whole journey in detail since and have really enjoyed interacting with people through these platforms.

"I was hoping to have it finished by the end of August but now it’s looking more like the end of October. When it is finished I am going to rent it on Airbnb."
