가로수 쓰러지고 도로 잠겨…광주•전남 태풍 피해<br /><br />Staying with the latest on the typhoon,...<br />After sweeping southern parts of the country, Typhoon Bavi has also caused damage in the city of Gwangju and Jeollanam-do Province.<br />Kim Dami has the details.<br />Typhoon Bavi continues to leave scars on the landscape on its way north, and Gwangju and Jellonam-do Province were no exceptions.<br />A signboard at a gas station in the province was blown off Wednesday night.<br />A hundred other cases of damage were reported overnight.<br />A tree fell and blocked a road for an hour, but there were no immediate reports of casualties.<br />In Gwangju, thousands of homes lost power.<br />Due to strong winds and rough seas, flights and ferries in these regions have been canceled.<br />Typhoon Bolaven back in 2012, which showed a similar path to Bavi, caused over five-hundred million U.S. dollars of damage.<br />In Jeju, South Korea's southern island, the first hit by the typhoon, an outer wall of an apartment building ripped off and damaged a car parked nearby.<br />No casualties were reported.<br />Traffic lights and CCTV cameras also succumbed to the winds of over 30 meters a second.<br />That's strong enough to rip off roof tiles.<br />"So many damage reports have been filed because it's a typhoon."<br />One of the four main rivers on Jeju almost reached its two-meter flood level, forcing nearby residents to leave their homes.<br />"The wind was really strong and the water level rose so fast that the evacuation process was challenging."<br />On top of the damage, thousands of people were stranded at Jeju International Airport following the cancellation of all flights going in and out.<br />Kim Dami, Arirang News.<br /><br />
