Researchers may have found a way to prevent people from developing Type 1 diabetes.<br />Scientists at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology made the announcement on Wednesday.<br />According to UPI, the process involved is called neuroimmunology.<br />Neuroimmunology effectively blocks nerve signals that cause the body's immune system to attack insulin-producing cells.<br />Researches say that devices can be made that influence nerve function locally by using electrical impulses.<br />The potential preventative treatments based on the findings are several years away from being used.
