Jerry Fallwell Jr.'s tenure as president and chancellor of Liberty University crashed to an inglorious end this week, when he was asked to resign.<br />According to CNN, the prodigal son of the late Rev. Jerry Falwell always seemed closer in spirit to his defiant, bootlegging grandfather, Carey Falwell.<br />Falwell Jr. has repeatedly insisted that while he considers himself a conservative Christian, he is by no means a particularly religious man.<br />And because of his phenomenal success at fundraising, management, and making political connections, his various gaffes were forgiven.<br />Until now. The last straw, for Liberty's board of trustees, was Falwell Jr.'s admission that he and his wife had had an affair with a business partner.<br />Falwell's zipper has been down for a long time.
