Mumbai's beaches -- normally packed with Hindu devotees eager to immerse idols of the elephant-headed god for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival -- are virtually deserted because of severe virus restrictions to prevent crowds, with neighbourhood ponds set up instead to carry out the annual ritual.
