Muslims in Egypt have been able to return to the mosques for Friday prayers for the first time in six months after places of worship were shut due to COVID-19.<br /><br />Footage from Alexandria on September 4 shows many attending the Al-Fayrouz Resort Mosque and partaking in Friday prayers.<br /><br />The Egyptian government approved the reopening of mosques for Friday prayers on August 28.<br /><br />Now worshippers are granted access but must adhere to rules, including, social distancing, the wearing of protective masks and restricted opening times.<br /><br />Any attendee who violates these rules will not only be banned from Friday prayers but will also close the mosque in which the violation occurred.
