Rival party lawmakers to pass revised bill on extending paid leave for parents

국회 가족돌봄휴가연장법, 오늘 국회 본회의 처리<br /><br />At South Korea's National Assembly, lawmakers kick off their first plenary session of September in the coming hours.<br />During the session, set for 10 AM, Korea time, rival parties have agreed to pass a revised bill aimed at extending the paid family care leave for parents raising young children.<br />Under the current law, employees are allowed 10 days paid leave a year.<br />But as many nurseries and kindergartens remain closed, people are calling for an extension.<br />The revised bill would likely extend the period to nearly a month in times of disaster, however the details have yet to be confirmed.<br />The newly-elected chief of the ruling Democratic Party Lee Nak-yon is set to deliver his policy speech as well.<br />He's expected to call for the swift implementation of the nation's fourth supplementary anti-COVID-19 budget.<br />
