S. Korea reports 136 COVID-19 cases on Tues., between 100 and 200 for six straight days

코로나19 신규 확진 136명…엿새째 100명대<br /><br />Our top story this afternoon.<br />South Korea is seeing a drop in new COVID-19 cases,... but the government is still alert over the risk of cluster infections.<br />And it is taking additional measures to stop the spread of the virus during the upcoming holiday season.<br />Jang Tae-hyun reports.<br />The number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea is slowly going down.<br />South Korea reported 136 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday,... the sixth day in a row that the number has been between 100 and 200.<br />Out of the 120 local cases on Tuesday, 98 were from the capital region... and 16 are imported cases.<br />Even though the number of cases is falling, there is still a high risk of cluster infections.<br />"After the strengthened social distancing, daily cases are in the one-hundred range. But, there were 52 cluster infections in the last two weeks, which is five times the number in early August.<br />He added that aside from religious facilities, many cluster infections are occurring at indoor physical training facilities, meetings and workplaces.<br />The government is taking measures to stop people from travelling around to contain the spread of virus.<br />Since 2017, South Korea has allowed people to drive on the expressway for free during the holiday seasons,... but NOT for this upcoming Chuseok the Korean Thanksgiving.<br />However, Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said that if the COVID-19 cases in the country decreases to under one hundred a day, the distancing regulations in the capital area can be loosened to level two.<br />Five additional deaths were reported on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 341.<br />The country's total number of cases stands at 21-thousand 432.<br />Jang Tae-hyun, Arirang News.<br />
