Throughout his administration, President Donald Trump has typically managed to shrug off various scandals, investigations, and impeachment proceedings.<br />But according to CNN, Trump was visibly distressed this weekend over a particular story published in The Atlantic.<br />It alleged that he privately disparaged the war dead and wounded, calling them 'losers' and 'suckers.'<br />Trump's angry reaction first triggered a massive pushback effort beginning Thursday night. By the weekend, however, he appeared deflated and dispirited.<br />But on Monday, Trump bizarrely decided to turn on the top brass at the Pentagon, accusing them of being beholden to defense contractors.<br />While former White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders disputes the allegations, denials from those who could quash the story for good haven't come forward.<br />Either former chief of staff John Kelly or the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joe Dunford, were with Trump when the alleged comments were made.
