A family showed their love for a pet dog by hosting a baby shower despite the raging COVID pandemic. <br /><br />Prakash Kumbar, a resident of Vijayapura, Karnataka in southern India, had decided to hold a baby shower for his family pet Soni when she became pregnant. <br /><br />Though he put it off for sometime due to the health crisis, he finally decided to celebrate it on September 2 following all traditional Hindu rituals a family would perform for their human daughter.<br /><br />Soni was adorned with flowers, clothes and ornaments, and placed on a chair, where she received gifts from the guests. Songs were sung and married women offered her ‘aarathi’ or holy flame to wish and her pups good luck. <br /><br />The da- long celebration ended with a treat for Soni and her guests. <br /><br />Prakash said: “She is part of our family, so we felt like sharing our happiness. We kept the guest list small due to COVID.”
