Venezuelans Stuck In State-Run Quarantine Motels Say They're More Like Prisons

To quarantine patients suspected of having COVID-19, Venezuela's government has been using motels and other makeshift facilities for their housing.<br />It's a bid to separate them from the general population and keep them from overburdening the country's already depleted and crumbling hospitals.<br />But according to CNN, their guests say the facilities are dirty, crowded, and prison-like. What's more, they lack proper food, hygiene, and even coronavirus testing.<br />President Nicolas Maduro claims Venezuela has some of the lowest COVID-19 numbers in Latin America.<br />However, experts say the number of deaths and cases may be severely underreported due to insufficient testing.
