밀월에서 냉각으로…친서로 보는 김정은-트럼프 관계

The highly anticipated book about U.S. President Donald Trump, "Rage" by well-renowned journalist Bob Woodward... is released Tuesday.
It goes into detail about President Trump's strange friendship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
It also features some of their private, never-before-seen letters.
Our Kim Dami has the details.
The Kim-Trump relationship has been a rollercoaster... full of respect and affection... but also anger and disappointment.
Between April 2018 and August 2019, they exchanged a total of 27 letters, building a relationship that seemed to be at its best after their first meeting in Singapore.
Trump has described the notes as "love letters," and Woodward says they represent a "diplomatic courtship."
Even after the second summit in Hanoi ended with no deal, Kim and Trump kept their friendly tone but the letters became less frequent.
Still, Kim called the Hanoi meeting a moment of glory that remains a precious memory.
He also said their deep and special friendship will be a magical force going forward.
They met again on the Korean Peninsula at the DMZ, and Trump later sent Kim 22 photographs of that historic encounter.
But a month later, Kim wrote back to Trump with a different tone.
Kim was not happy that the South Korea-U.S. military exercises had not been fully suspended.
Woodward describes him as like "a disppointed friend or lover."
According to Woodword, the letters have almost stopped, clearly pointing to relationship gone cold.
Trump has claimed he sent a letter to Kim back in March, offering to help with the COVID-19 outbreak, and he said Kim responded back with a great letter.
The North, however, denied that such a letter was sent.
Kim Dami, Arirang News.
