A couple were left stranded amid an overflowing river in southern India's Telangana after heavy rainfall.<br /><br />The incident occurred at the Dindi irrigation project in Siddapur village of Achampet Mandal in Nagarkurnool district on September 16.<br /><br />According to reports, S Venkatram and his wife Vijaya went to work at a farm when the water level increased leaving them stranded in the floodwater of the Dindi project rivulet.<br /><br />Soon being trapped villagers spotted them and informed the local police.<br /><br />Superintendent of police Sai Sekhar and district collector Sharman rushed to the place and sought the help of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to rescue the couple.<br /><br />A team of NDRF workers reached the spot and rescued the couple in the late hours.<br /><br />According to reports, heavy rainfall lashed Telangana inundating several places.<br /><br />A flood-like situation has been witnessed across the state.
