Supporters of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his birthday yesterday (September 19th) with parties and rallies across the country.<br /><br />An event in the Chennai district of Tamil Nadu, however, turned disastrous when a huge bunch of gas-filled balloons exploded, burning several people who were standing nearby.<br /><br />The organizers were just about to release the hydrogen-filled balloons in the colours of Modi's party when sparks from fireworks ignited the bunch causing a loud bang and a ball of flame.<br /><br />About 12 people suffered burn injuries, according to reports.
