레드카펫 사라진 에미상…"'팬데미스'에 오신 걸 환영합니다"<br /><br />The Emmys are an American award ceremony that honors shows, actors, and production teams of excellence in the television industry.<br />Normally, it would invite all the nominees and guests to the venue.<br />But this year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Emmys went completely virtual.<br />Bae Eun-ji takes you to the scene.<br />The Emmy Awards has attempted something which has never been done before amid the COVID-19 pandemic...what they call (quote) the "Pand-Emmys".<br />The whole ceremony went virtual without an audience in attendance.<br />"That would mean that I'm up here all alone. Just like prom night."<br />Instead, the seats were filled with cardboard cut-outs of the nominees...over a hundred of whom were connected online ready for the winners to be announced.<br />"Instead of bringing the nominees to us, we went to them."<br />There were even short scenes where a woman in protective clothing walks up to the presenter to have him tested for COVID-19, before calling out the winners.<br />Also, for sanitation reasons, the hosts burns the paper with the name of the winners written on it,... before putting the fire out.<br />"Alright. Sanitized for your protection."<br />In another short skit, a person in a protective suit hands over the award to the winner.<br />The nominees all joined the ceremony online, safely at home with their families and co-workers - where the lucky winners received their awards.<br />And by becoming the first-ever major award ceremony to go virtual, this year's Emmys showed how events of this nature can be carried out successfully online,... following strict safety guidelines.<br />Bae Eun-ji, Arirang News.<br />
