미 당국자 "이란-북한, 협력 우려…막기 위해 무엇이든 할 것"<br /><br />The U.S. has declared a snapback of UN Security Council sanctions on Iran,... and sanctions on all entities with ties to Tehran and its weapons trade and development.<br />It includes North Korea, which has reportedly been involved with such dealings with Iran.<br />Lee Seung-jae has this story<br />Despite opposition from most of the international community,... the U.S. is imposing snapback sanctions on Iran over its nuclear weapons development.<br />"Today, I will take the first action under this new executive order by sanctioning the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics and Iran's defense industries' organization and its director."<br />Those subject to the sanctions include the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro,.. who according to Pompeo,... worked with Iran despite a UN arms embargo on Tehran.<br />North Korea is also among those possibly involved in weapons trade and development with Iran.<br />And according to Elliot Abrams, the U.S. envoy on Iran,... Washington will do anything it can to prevent it.<br />The statements come as Reuters reported this week that North Korea and Iran "have resumed cooperation on a long-range missile project, including the transfer of critical parts."<br />The U.S. State Department is also highlighting past cooperation between Pyeongyang and Tehran on various weapons development programs,... as part of Washington's renewed sanctions on a number of Iranian researchers and institutions.<br />This includes the Shahid Haj Ali Movahed Research Center,... which according to the State Department,.. has played a key role in international missile cooperation,... as well as Iranian researcher Seid Mir Ahmad Nooshin,... who the Treasury Department states was key to negotiations with the North Koreans on long-range missile projects.<br />North Korea remains under a number of U.S. and international sanctions that prohibit any transfer to and from the regime of parts and materials that can be used for weapons development programs.<br />Lee Seung-jae, Arirang News.<br />
