고래 270마리 호주 태즈매니아 해변에 갇혀...구조 작업 진행<br /><br />Around 2-hundred-70 pilot whales were found stranded on Monday, off the west coast of Australia's southern island of Tasmania.<br />About one-third of the stranded whales have already died, but a wide-scale rescue operation is ongoing, to try and save the remaining beached whales.<br />Pilot whales are a species that can grow to be seven meters long and weigh up to three tons.<br />They're also known to be frequently involved in mass strandings.<br />Such incidents are unfortunately not uncommon in the area the last large-scale stranding off Tasmania's coast happened in 2009.<br />This can happen for various reasons, including misadventure, shallow waterways, or even a flight response from a perceived threat.<br />
