We will move forward to green and de-carbonize our vehicle fleet here in the state of California."<br />The new executive order would not ban Californians from owning gas-powered cars or selling used ones.<br />But it would end the sales of all new gasoline-powered passenger cars and trucks.<br />The bold announcement comes after the state has seen weeks of unprecedented wildfires, prompting calls for action against climate change.<br />At least 15 other countries have already made similar pledges to phase out gas-powered cars, including Germany, France and Norway.<br />
