Rural areas in S. Korea still suffering from summer's monsoon

"추석 연휴 반갑지 않아요"<br /><br />This summer's unusually long monsoon season might have passed, but just days ahead of Chuseok, rural regions are still reeling from its impact.<br />Our Han Seong-woo reports on the widespread flood damage that is still plaguing Gyeonggi-do Province.<br />Chuseok, is now only a few days away.<br />But it won't be a happy occasion for those living in the rural southern parts of Gyeonggi-do Province that haven't fully recovered from this summer's monsoon and the typhoons that followed.<br />"Chuseok?... I mean... Just look at the current situation. Who would come for the holidays to a place like this?"<br />The floodwaters might have gone down some time ago, but the damage is still widespread...<br />from broken roads to fallen trees.<br />Those in the agricultural sector have been hit the hardest.<br />Rice paddies and crop fields have been left devastated by torrential rain.<br />"It takes six years for a harvest. I'm going to have to plant six years-worth of crops all over again."<br />Government aid packages have been distributed to affected residents, but many say they're not enough to cover all the costs including house repair.<br />Han Seong-woo, Arirang News.<br />
