Moon, Putin agree to cooperate on Inter-Korean peace despite "difficult conditions"

한러 정상, 수교 30년 통화…문대통령 "어려움 속 한반도평화 노력 지속"<br /><br />President Moon Jae-in and his Russian counterpart Vladmir Putin have reaffirmed their commitment to seeking peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.<br />According to South Korea's presidential spokesman Kang Min-seok, the two leaders held a 35-minute<br />phone call on Monday to mark 30 years of Seoul-Moscow relations.<br />Moon pledged to continue efforts to achieve complete denuclearization and permanent peace between the two Koreas, despite "difficult conditions," and asked for Russia's support.<br />Putin responded that he hoped to see talks resume between the two Koreas, adding Russia would cooperate in the peace drive.<br />The two leaders also discussed areas of economic cooperation, and the global response to COVID-19.<br />Moon proposed that Russia participate in the Seoul-based International Vaccine Institute.<br />Putin said he'd consider the plan.<br />The Russian leader said he was deeply impressed by South Korea's virus prevention measures,... adding that he'd visit Seoul after getting Russia's recently-developed vaccine.<br /><br />
