트럼프 대통령과 멜라니아 영부인 코로나19 확진<br />U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania both contracted COVID-19.<br />With less than a month to continue re-election campaigns, the development comes as a huge blow to the commander-in-chief who, unlike his challenger, has been downplaying the virus. <br />Kim Do-yeon has our top story. <br />U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19. <br />At around 1 A.M. on Friday, local time, he tweeted that he and his wife had started to quarantine. <br />The tweet came after he revealed he was being tested along with the First Lady in an interview with Fox News after his senior aide, Hope Hicks, tested positive. <br />The President's physician said in a memorandum that the couple is doing fine at the moment. <br />He also said the plan is to stay in the White House until they recover.<br />His letter ended, saying, "rest assured, I expect the President to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering." <br />The news is being seen as a blow to the President as the Presidential Election is only a month away... and he has been downplaying the seriousness of the virus as opposed to his Democratic challenger, Joe Biden. <br />He was also trying to convince the public that the worst was behind the country. <br />So far, the country has recorded more than 7 million confirmed cases and more than 200,000 deaths. <br />In addition, the President is 74 years old, which could place him at risk of complications from COVID-19. <br />While the White House said he was doing well, if he cannot carry out an acting president's duties, he would pass a written note to the leaders in Congress... and Vice President Mike Pence would assume the role of acting President. <br />Kim Do-yeon, Arirang news <br />
