‘여성운동 대모’ 이효재 교수 별세...향년 96세<br /><br />One of the first generation of South Korea's female scholars Lee Hyo-jae has died at the age of 96.<br />Referred to as the "godmother of women's studies", the emeritus professor at Ewha Womans University died from sepsis on Sunday.<br />Professor Lee was at the forefront of efforts to achieve gender equality.<br />She helped abolish the patriarchal family system, introduced the 50 percent female quota for the National Assembly ...and pushed for equal pay for equal work.<br />She also laid the foundations for solving the so-called "comfort women" issue.<br />Her funeral will take place at 8 AM on Tuesday in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do province.<br /><br />
