국내 코로나 73명 신규확진, 포천 군부대서 코로나 확진자 36명... '불분명' 감염경로<br /><br />Our starting point tonight: the Covid-19 situation in South Korea.<br />On the first day back from the long Chuseok holiday, the country saw less than 100 new cases marking fifth day in a row that the daily increase has been kept in double digits.<br />However, health authorities are still cautiously monitoring the situation due to sporadic infections nationwide plus two confirmed cases of pediatric multi inflammatory system in the country are raising concerns.<br />Choi Won-jong reports.<br />South Korea reported 73 new cases on Monday, staying below 100 for the fifth day in a row.<br />Of those, 64 were local transmissions and 9 were from overseas.<br />This brings South Korea's total caseload to more than 24-thousand.<br />Despite the slowing trend in new cases after the five-day-long Chuseok holiday, the nation remains on high alert.<br />"During the holiday, we have seen sporadic infections in nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and offices, even continuing to occur among family members and local communities."<br />Of Monday's new cases, 19 were reported in Seoul.<br />During the long holiday, there were more than 20 new cases a day,... mostly reported from indoor fitness facilities and churches.<br />Outside the capital area, a military base in Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do Province reported 36 new cases on Monday.<br />Of them, three tested positive on Sunday, but after testing all the other soldiers, 33 were added the next day.<br />Most service members were restricted from leaving the base during the holiday although one officer was in Seoul over Chuseok.<br />It isn't clear how the cluster infection on the base started, and a thorough epidemiological investigation is underway.<br />In a briefing on Monday, the health authorities also reported the first cases in Korea of inflammatory syndrome.<br />Two suspected cases of inflammatory syndrome related to COVID-19 were released from hospital.<br />Due to the restrictions on traveling during the holiday, the use of highways and public transport decreased.<br />The total number of people who traveled during the holiday was around 31 million,... 3-point-1 percent down from last year.<br />Due to the public's effort in following social distancing measures during the holiday, the health authorities said that they are not expecting to see a rapid surge in infections.<br />Choi Won-jong, Arirang News.<br />
