건립 89주년 리우 거대 예수상…기념미사•축하행사 이어져<br /><br />Rio de Janeiro's iconic Christ the Redeemer statue marked the 89th anniversary of its establishment on Monday.<br />A commemorative mass and a variety of celebratory events were held around the statue.<br />Cakes were given out to those who came to celebrate as well as tourists, and gifts were handed out to children.<br />The statue, completed in 1931 after 9 years of construction, stands 38 meters high, and 30 meters wide.<br />The COVID-19 pandemic had forced its closure in March, but it has been reopened since mid-August.<br />
