때 이른 추위에 겨울상품 '반짝'<br /><br />Sales of winter products like thick clothes and warm snacks are rising in South Korea as the mercury starts to plunge as we head into November.<br />New data shows more people are picking up hot coffee and buying warm jackets to block out the cold.<br />Park Se-young has more. From steamed buns to roasted sweet potatoes, winter food has reappeared at convenience stores.<br />Sales of hot snacks and drinks are growing rapidly amid the chilly weather.<br />One convenience store chain saw sales of roasted sweet potatoes between October 5th and October 7th rise by more than 25% compared to the previous week, and saw hot beverage sales rise by more than 40%.<br />Those sales figures were also slightly higher than the same period last year.<br />As well as warm comfort foods, convenience stores are moving to release winter items like hot packs and winter vests.<br />"Recently, more customers have been looking for outerwear in a hurry while outdoors. So convenience stores began selling winter vests."<br />At supermarkets, clothes that usually begin selling in early winter are already flying off shelves.<br />In the first seven days of October, ...sales of sweaters rose by over 50 percent and men's jackets by over 85 percent ...compared to the previous year.<br />Sales of women's thermal innerwear also rose by more than 25 percent.<br />As for heating products, ...sales of electric mats more than doubled compared to last year, ...while sales of electric blankets were up by over 80 percent.<br />"Sales of heating products are increasing due to the sudden cold snap. Electric mat sales have doubled compared to last year."<br />In response, supermarkets have been displaying heating products a week earlier than the previous year.<br />Department stores are looking to take advantage of the high demand by holding promotions for winter bedding and outerwear.<br />Park Se-young, Arirang News.<br />
