국내 코로나19 신규 확진 119명...유럽선 스페인, 이탈리아 다시 봉쇄<br /><br />Despite comparatively fewer tests conducted over the weekend, South Korea on Monday reported one-hundred-19 new COVID-19 cases the first time since last week there have been more than one-hundred.<br />Europe, meanwhile, continues to see new record-highs in daily infections, with the total topping nine-million.<br />Some countries are back to imposing curfews as an attempt to stem the rapid spread.<br />Choi Jeong-yoon has the details.<br />South Korea reported one hundred-nineteen new COVID-19 cases on Monday,... back into triple digits for the first time in three days.<br />Among them, 94 were transmitted locally,...bringing the total to 25-thousand-nine-hundred-55.<br />Health authorities highlighted three major factors that could lead to an exponential uptick in cases-cluster infections at high-risk facilities, an increasing number of gatherings, and the situation worsening in Europe.<br />South Korea has recently seen a sudden increase in cases at rehabilitation hospitals and nursing homes...mostly concentrated in the greater capital region.<br />In the past seven days, cluster infections at such facilities amounted to over two-hundred-20,...accounting for some 30 percent of total cases.<br />Epidemiological results showed some facilities were careless with quarantine measures and negligent to patients with COVID-19 symptoms. The fact that nursing homes and hospitals have high concentrations of patients on a single ward...and the close distance between beds were also pointed out."<br />Imported cases has accounted for 20 percent of the total case load over the past week. The resurgence in Europe in particular is putting health authorities on alert as a record of over two-hundred-21-thousand cases were reported in 24 hours.<br />The Spanish Cabinet on Sunday approved a new national state of alarm restricting mobility between 11 PM to 6 AM...days after it became the first European Union state to pass the one-million-case mark.<br />"We are living in an extreme situation; it is in fact the most serious health emergency experienced by Spain since the approval of our constitution (1978) and also in the last half century."<br />Areas within the country can restrict travel to and from other regions,... except if it is essential such as going to work or seeing a doctor.<br />The new policy is to last for 15 days but could be extended until May next year, once the government wins majority support from Spain's Congress.<br />Choi Jeong-yoon, Arirang News.<br />
