Keeping safe from COVID-19 this Halloween

이태원에 내려친 할로윈 방역수칙...코로나 속에서 할로윈 재미있게 보내는 방법<br /><br />South Korea reported 1-hundred-fourteen new COVID-19 cases on Friday.<br />93 were locally transmitted and 21 were from overseas.<br />But health authorities are worried that the Halloween weekend could bring more cases.<br />So government officials, Itaewon businesses, and Halloween party-goers are all coming together to prevent a superspreader event this Halloween.<br />Our Kim Yeon-seung with the details.<br />This is Itaewon during Halloween last year.<br />Yongsan-gu district office estimates more than 100-thousand people visited the area in a single day.<br />But this year... crowds of this size create the perfect conditions for a COVID-19 outbreak.<br />Itaewon businesses are trying make sure that doesn't happen.<br />More than 20 bars and clubs in Itaewon will voluntarily shut down this Halloween.<br />Itaewon Business Federation is also installing a special prevention gate on the entrance of the area's busiest street.<br />Visitors use a QR code to pass through the gate, which takes their temperature and sprays them with disinfectant.<br />Seoul city government officials will also inspect some 170 businesses to see if they are following social distancing guidelines over the weekend.<br />Bars, restaurants and entertainment facilities have to keep entry logs and make sure customers keep a safe distance apart.<br />Businesses that break these rules will be ordered to shut down for two weeks.<br />"This is the club that usually teems with party-goers looking for a night of Halloween fun.<br />But this year, these doors will be tightly shut due to the pandemic.<br />So many are coming up with new ideas to celebrate the Halloween spirit, without running the risk of spreading the virus."<br />Take Jake Hanus, who is going hiking in his Halloween costume instead.<br />"Well, this year because of the pandemic, we don't wanna go anywhere where there's a lot of people, so we're go gonna go to the mountains... I don't like to brag, but it was my idea. I really like wearing my costume in public...I plan on social distancing and partying hard."<br />The safest bet though might be to stay indoors and watch a scary movie.<br />But health authorities still expect up to 80,000 people to visit Itaewon this Halloween.<br />Kim Yeon-seung, Arirang News<br />
