'한국 살고 싶어요' 난민 신청자 7만명 첫 돌파<br /><br />The total number of refugee applications received by South Korea has exceeded 70-thousand.<br />According to the Justice Ministry on Monday, ...the number of applicants from 1994 to August this year amounted to 70-thousand-two-hundred-54.<br />The number from this January to August fell almost 37 percent from the same period last year due to the pandemic.<br />Over that period, ...around 40 were recognized as refugees ...and some 120 received humanitarian status.<br />To discourage bogus applications, ...South Korea has a notoriously tough screening process.<br />As a result, only around four percent of applicants have been allowed to stay in South Korea since 1994.<br />
