Mississippi Votes to Replace Confederate-Themed State Flag.<br />According to NBC News, 68% <br />of Mississippi voted to replace <br />the 126-year-old flag.<br />"The New Magnolia" design features a magnolia <br />blossom in the center of the flag, circled by 20 stars as <br />a representation of Mississippi becoming the 20th state.<br />The bottom of the circle <br />says, "In God We Trust.".<br />Artist Rocky Vaughan's design was <br />chosen from 3,000 submissions.<br />[The new design] represents Mississippi's sense of hope and rebirth, as the Magnolia often blooms more than once and has a long blooming season, Department of Archives and History, via statement.<br />Gov.
