Yankees Hall of Famer , Whitey Ford, Dead at 91.<br />According to the Associated Press, Ford died Thursday night at his home in Long Island.<br />The New York Yankees made <br />the announcement on Friday.<br />Ford made his major league debut in 1950 and spent his whole career, 16 seasons, with the Yankees.<br />In the 1950s, he was dubbed "Chairman of the Board" by Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Jim Murray.<br />who likened rooting for the Yankees to rooting for General Motors or U.S. Steel at the time.<br />He led the Yankees to win six World Series titles and 11 American League pennants.<br />His career record was 236-106.<br />Ford was inducted into the Hall of Fame <br />with Mickey Mantle in 1974. .<br />His number, 16, was retired the same year
